More than most places, light is everywhere in this fascinating octagonal cottage. A double glass-door opens out onto a platform on the lake. In the morning, sunlight comes directly through this entrance and onto the remarkable fireplace. As the day grows old, the sun reflects its rays from the lake and onto the ceilings of the abode which in turn diffuses throughout the rooms. Inside the cottage light comes from a number of amazing lights not least the central pendant in the bedroom. This is suspended from the octagonal oak frame above. It gives a soft light through a floral patterned silk onto the bed below. In the main room, on the ground floor, the fireplace, shaped as a mighty and old tree trunk, warms the room through the fire within. The trunk itself spreads out at the top into a canopy from which oak pendent lights hang, sculpted into the shape of blossoms.
